Caruso's 6th grade students have had the wonderful opportunity to participate in Junior Achievement's Economics for Success program which focuses on personal finance. This program will end on June 2nd with a culminating activity, named Reality 101, in which students pretend they are 25-year-old adults living on an established income. Students each receive an occupation along with education and salary information. They will “live” for one month, making life choices based on provided information. During the activity, students will visit stations that represent various personal finance choices that adults have to consider such as food, transportation, clothing, etc. At each station, a parent volunteer will explain and discuss options with students. Students will make a financial decision and move to the next station. Classes will discuss their interactions and experiences the following day.
-Volunteers will be provided a sheet with the options at their station including conversation tips. No additional experience is needed!
-Blue and white teams will combine for the activity so you'll be sure to see your child if you sign up for the correct time slot.
-Sign up for the time slot that includes your child's social studies class.
